9 Nov 1940, Rocky Mountain News, p. 4, News Article: "Man Burned To Death Sleeping In Boxcar' -- "Edward (Willie) Lockett, 45, of 2742 Larimer street, a Negro, died in the Denver General hospital early Saturday of burns suffered Friday night when a boxcar in which he was sleeping near Twenty-first and market streets caught fire.' "A passerby who saw smoke coming from the closed car called the fire department. An attempt to save Lockett's life was made by rescue squad No. 4, in charge of Capt. William Lindsay. Officials said Lockett had sought shelter in the car and had accidentally ignited litter on the floor of the car before falling asleep." (13)

22 Sep 1936 Rocky Mountain News, p. 1, News Article: "Two Are Killed In Crash Near Idaho Springs" -- "Fred Bigbee, IdahoSprings (sic), Crushed; Arthr Kauffman Fatally Injured" -- "Two men were fatally injured Monday night in an accident on the Chicago Creek road six miles west of Idaho Springs.' "Fred Bigbee, 35, of Idaho Springs, was dead when an Idaho Springs ambulance reached Colorado General Hospital.' "Arthur Kauffman, 30, of Idaho Springs, died a few minutes after arrival at the hospital.' "A third man was reported to have received less serious injuries.' "The three men were in an old touring car on the Chicago Creek highway a short distance from Idaho Springs, according to Clear Creek county authorities. Apparently there was no collision. The accident occured on a straight, wide stretch of road.' "The driver lost control of the machine, which overturned three times. One of the occupants was pinned beneath the wrecked machine and the others were thrown clear.' "Kaufman and Bigbee were employed by the Kenney Construction Co, which is building a bridge near Idaho Springs." (13).
